Be the solution to Pollution!

   

The social issue that I focused on in the previous session was 'Environmental pollution". Environmental pollution is everywhere, but in Pakistan it is very high and this is why this issue is important to me. The government is taking steps to control it but it is all in vain. People are dying because of this. They don't have clean water to drink. The water of rivers and seas are being constantly polluted by various dangerous chemical and biological wastes. Water pollution also has deadly effects on the marine life. Other than this, the air is also getting polluted as a result of the smoke and harmful gases given out by various vehicles. People breathe in the same polluted air and get exposed to diseases. The irritating sound of horns, loud music etc. is resulting in noise pollution. When all these different kinds of environmental pollution get together, they become a major cause of our daily life problems. 
      In Pakistan, environmental pollution has always been a major issue. According to a report, Pakistani vehicles emit twenty-five times as much carbon monoxide, twenty times as many hydrocarbons, and more than three and one-half times as much nitrous oxide in grams per kilometer as the average vehicle in the United States. 

What can I do about this? As I'm a KL-YES student, I know a lot of YES students, especially of 2012-13 batch. All of these students are from different cities all over Pakistan. So what I can do is to talk to my YES friends, discuss this issue with them and come up with a plan to put an end/reduce pollution. Then, I can create a facebook group and add all the YES students I know in that group. Me and my friends will then tell them about our plan. As all the students are from different areas of Pakistan, they can further make groups of all students in a particular area. They can collect donations from people by posting this campaign online on social media and start working for the betterment. The goal is to do our best so that we can motivate other people to do some work too. A group of students working to reduce pollution in their respective areas all over the country will definitely bring a change. Even a small change brought by us can save a lot of lives.
